Plant Protection
Plant Protection
The plant protection cluster aims to advance the understanding of damaging species in order to minimise their impacts in rural, urban and natural environments. Biologists in the group are primarily concerned with plant diseases, insects, weeds and related pest organisms. Emphasis is on integrated approaches based on biological control strategies, population dynamics and a molecular and genetic understanding of plant-pathogen, plant-weed and plant-insect interactions. The group collaborates with co-location partners from SARDI, PIRSA, the Animal and Plant Control Commission, the Australian Wine Research Institute, Waite Diagnostics and CSIRO, thereby extending and reinforcing its expertise.
