Friends & Volunteers
Friends of the Waite Arboretum work to foster interest in the care and use of the Arboretum, and to raise funds for its development and promotion. Members receive a regular newsletter and may participate in a program of exhibitions, excursions, events and lectures. You can participate by helping to tend the collection, monitor tree trials, help with fundraising, developing educational materials or by being an Arboretum Guide.
For past issues of the Friends of the Arboretum Inc Newsletter please see our archives.
Volunteers assist in many ways including:
- Taking guided walks
- Publicity and promotion
- Staffing exhibitions
- Recording and mapping
- Plant propagation
- Bird Monitoring
- Flower arranging
- General maintenance and handy person work
- Gardening, planting, weeding, pruning, watering
- Preparation of brochures and self-guided walks
People interested in native vegetation can also help in the Waite Conservation Reserve.
