
Waite Campus is located on 174 hectares in the Adelaide foothills with a view
to the sea and the city, just fifteen minutes away from the North Terrace Campus
by car or bus. The Campus is home to a number of Schools within the University
of Adelaide's Faculty of Sciences,
and to a number of research partners in the Commonwealth Scientific Research Organisation
(CSIRO), Primary Industries
and Resources South Australia (PIRSA),
the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI),
the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI)
and the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics.
University of Adelaide staff and students work with staff from these organisations,
giving them a unique opportunity to gain practical and theoretical knowledge through
participation in ongoing national and international research projects.
Waite Campus is a centre for excellence in molecular plant breeding, horticulture,
viticulture, oenology, integrated pest management, weed management and soil and
water management. The Faculty is a major collaborator in Cooperative Research
Centres on this Campus for Viticulture,
Molecular Plant
Breeding, Weed Management
and Salinity.
The Campus includes the internationally renowned Waite
Arboretum and Urrbrae
House Historic Precinct.

1500 students and staff are located at Waite, at what is now the largest agricultural
research and teaching centre in Australia, with access to state-of-the art facilities
for plant research and wine science.
Campus facilities include:
