Urrbrae House

Urrbrae House is a beautiful bluestone mansion, built in 1891 as the home of the Waite family on a large estate in the foothills south of the city of Adelaide. It was the first private house in South Australia to have electricity and its own domestic refrigeration plant.

The house was designed by Marryat and Woods, and the interior decorations were designed by Aldam Heaton, a contemporary of William Morris. Heaton was also the designer for the State Rooms aboard the Titanic. Urrbrae House was his only commission in Australia.
